Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-01-04
Overview
OpenClip is designed to be privacy-first. The OpenClip Chrome extension stores your clipboard history on your device and does not send your clipboard contents to any server.
Information We Collect
- Clipboard content (extension): saved locally on your device so you can search and reuse items you copied.
- Website visits: this website does not include a sign-up form and does not intentionally collect personal information.
How We Use Information
- To provide the extension’s clipboard history, search, favorites, tags, and export/import features.
- To operate and improve the website and extension.
Data Storage and Sharing
- Local storage: clipboard history is stored locally in your browser profile (on your device).
- No selling/sharing: we do not sell or share clipboard content with third parties.
- Service providers: like most websites, the hosting provider may process basic server logs (e.g., IP address, user agent) to deliver the site and prevent abuse.
Permissions
The extension requires access needed to detect what you copy and to store and manage your clipboard history. OpenClip does not transmit clipboard contents to remote servers.
Your Choices
- You can delete individual clips or clear your history from within the extension.
- You can uninstall the extension at any time to stop all collection and remove local extension data.
- You can export your data for backup and import it later.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
